  1. We read this as part of our pre-marriage work with our chaplain. Wonderful book, and it really helped us learn to understand eachother more.

  2. Hubbie doesn't read but I thoroughly enjoyed this book and what the hunkie-hubbie-who-doesnt-read and I were able to get out of it was priceless.

  3. I did not know that there was a new book out by him. We read the 5 love languages with a few of our couple friends several years ago. I must get this one

  4. Dana,

This may be the same book you read, just a newer addition. I believe this addition has a great little questionnaire in the back of the book. I've added a few of Gary Chapman's other titles to this post in case you are interested. I've not read the other titles, however.

    xoxo,
    Gwen

  5. Any hints to having a husband read this book? He reads a bunch of war books but I don't know how to convince him to start up this one? I absolutely love this book and it's changed how I treat not just him, but relationships with my family as well. I feel like I invest time to learn how to improve our relationship and want to feel like he is doing the same.

  6. Luckily, the Hubs and I read this book during the first year of our marriage along with several other good ones (Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, etc.)

I actually give this book as a wedding gift with a note inside explaining to the couple that reading this book in the first year will help them avoid many pitfalls and small mistakes that could grow over time.

If I get the chance, I warn the bride that she probably only has that first year to read all the relationship books with her Husband they can because once the 'honeymoon' phase is over, it seems the guys will never read something like this again! Anyway, it makes a GREAT wedding gift!

  11. I loved this book. i read it after a year of marriage, and really got so much out of it. My husband isn't much of a reader, but he told me he'd read it, too. The quiz was my favorite part. So interesting to see the love language of a spouse.
